2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.
Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing unveiling last fall.
Recently, 2K president a key figure updated employees about this strategic move through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had indicated the need for a clearer game identity.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now reimagining the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to address community desires.
The news mirrors a similar move taken by the publisher in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the complete content from Ismailer's memo:
Team—
I understand you all just finished your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Previously I shared you all a update, I stated the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative creators we have had the pleasure to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to continue.”
Given your hard work and adaptability, particularly over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The player input from last autumn’s the game demo was informative. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the need for a more distinct identity.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve progressed. You embraced the input to heart and reimagined the title with a refreshed direction - one that’s poised to achieve its promise to our audience.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS increases every day. To advance the remarkable progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome the new hire as the latest Lead of the team. After some time of discussions, he officially joins us on the specified date.
